SUPAA Goes To The Big Show

This past weekend SUPAA was presented in front of 26k visitors to the Surf Expo in Orlando, Florida. Stand up paddle race directors, athletes and brands came by our booth to learn more about who we are and what we are doing. We want to thank everyone who came by and showed their support for our mission. Over the weekend we gained members from Tahiti, Austria, New York and other great stand up paddling destinations over the weekend. It’s great to hear first hand accounts about the incredible need for an organization like SUPAA from stand up paddle athletes and race directors.

Board of Directors Chase Kosterlitz and Belar Diaz.

The 2014 stand up paddle racing season also kicked off over last weekend in Miami, Florida with the Orange Bowl Paddle Championships. The Orange Bowl is the first big race in the United States for 2014. SUPAA did not work with the race organizers of the Orange Bowl but we hope to contribute to their event in the future. We want to give a huge congratulations to one of our Board of Directors, Lina Augaitis for winning the first big SUP race of the year. Leaving the cold grip of the Canadian winter for sunny south Florida was a great escape for Lina. Our Board of Directors was working hard on and off the water this past weekend!

As we move forward encourage your local race organizers to contact SUPAA so that we can continue to work toward unifying the rules of stand up paddle racing. We believe fair starts, complete race information, proper safety and a fun event are all things every stand up paddle athlete deserves to have.

We will continue to work hard to promote our mission and create a better future for stand up paddle boarding. None of our goals can be accomplished without the input and contributions from our members.
